80s icons Crowded House are set to make a comeback this summer with a series of festival performances. The rock band, formed in 1985, achieved mainstream success with their debut album and hit single “Don’t Dream It’s Over”. Now, band members Neil Finn, Paul Hester, and Nick Seymour are reuniting to release new music and embark on a tour, including a performance at the Isle of Wight Festival. They will be sharing the stage with headliners such as The Prodigy, Green Day, and The Pet Shop Boys. Crowded House’s Australian and New Zealander members are set to release their eighth studio album, “Gravity Stairs”, next month.

The band’s fame skyrocketed in the 80s with their debut album. Frontman Neil Finn even had the opportunity to play with Fleetwood Mac during the band’s hiatus. Adding to their extensive list of tour dates, Crowded House will also be performing at the On The Mount At Wasing festival in Reading this summer. Their tour will kick off in June, with venues including the Eden Project, the historic O2 Empire in Shepherd’s Bush, and Cardiff Castle. Alongside their live performances, the band has released a new single called “Teenage Summer”, with an unexpected album on the horizon. This will be their first album since their split in 2018.

Neil Finn spoke about the significance of their debut hit, stating that it is a song that people can easily sing along to in a group setting. Songs like “Something So Strong”, “Better Be Home Soon”, and “Distant Sun” were also popular hits for Crowded House. During their hiatus, Neil Finn joined Fleetwood Mac after Lindsey Buckingham’s departure. The band’s success continued into the 90s with the release of their compilation album, “Recurring Dream”.

Crowded House: A Story of Tragedy, Reunions, and New Music

In a stunning comeback, Crowded House, the iconic band from New Zealand, is set to release brand new music. The founding brothers, Neil and Tim Finn, were honored with OBE awards in 1993 for their outstanding contributions to the music industry. However, their success was marred by a heartbreaking split just three years later.

Tragedy struck the band in 2005 when drummer Paul Hester tragically took his own life. Devastated by the loss, the group decided to reunite a year later as a tribute to their fallen bandmate. Their reunion was a bittersweet moment that brought both joy and sadness to their fans.

Unfortunately, the band faced yet another devastating loss in 2012. Pete Jones, who had taken over as drummer after Hester’s passing, sadly passed away at the age of 45 due to brain cancer. The band paid tribute to Jones, describing him as a “warm-hearted, funny, and talented man.” This loss further tested the band’s resilience.

Despite these hardships, Crowded House has continued to experience multiple splits and reunions throughout the years. However, their latest reunion is their most significant one yet. With a strong desire for nostalgia and the support of massive festivals, the band is ready to make a triumphant return to the music scene.
