In a case that shocked the Elephant and Castle community in South London, three Dutch suspects will face trial in April, accused of a heinous crime that involved tying up and gagging a legal executive while her son was brutally stabbed to death.

Riches Obi, 25, was tragically found lying on the ground by the front door of an apartment on November 17, 2020, with cuts and stab wounds to his chest. His mother, Bernadette Ortet, was discovered tied up with a scarf around her neck in one of the rooms.

Dutch citizens Suvenca Martis, 33, Raichell Felomina, 39, and Jurick Croes, 38, face charges of Mr. Obi’s murder and the unlawful imprisonment of Ms. Ortet. Martis is female, while Felomina and Croes are male.

Murdered son: Riches Obi

Ms. Ortet, who worked as a case manager at Obadiah Rose Solicitors, a firm specializing in immigration and nationality, found herself involved in this nightmare that resulted in the tragic loss of her son. Riches Obi, who had completed an internship at Porsche and was studying sports science at university, had his promising life abruptly cut short.

Martis, a resident of Sydenham in southeast London, along with Felomina and Croes, both without a fixed address, deny all charges of murder and unlawful imprisonment. Martis also faces an additional charge of perverting the course of justice.

The trial, scheduled to begin on April 2 at the Old Bailey, promises to be one of the most closely followed and commented on, given the brutality and coldness of the crimes allegedly committed by this trio.
