Real estate is a hot topic in Los Angeles, especially when it comes to coveted neighborhoods. Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger recently made a move in the Brentwood neighborhood near Schwarzenegger’s mother Maria Shriver’s home, but it seems their decision is not sitting well with the locals.
The couple purchased a $12.5 million property that was known for its Californian midcentury modern style. Designed by renowned architect Craig Ellwood, the estate was named the Zimmerman House as a tribute to its original owners, Martin and Eva Zimmerman, who commissioned the home in 1949. Architecture enthusiasts were hopeful that Pratt and Schwarzenegger would restore the property to its former glory, but it turns out they had other plans.
In a surprising twist, the couple decided to demolish the entire home, leaving the neighborhood in shock. The Eichler Network described the demolition as a “gut punch,” sharing images of the debris and trees scattered around as the construction crew prepared to build a brand new home. All that remains are photographs showcasing the Zimmerman House’s stunning gardens, floor-to-ceiling windows, and open-floor concept, which were featured in Progressive Architecture magazine.
Pratt and Schwarzenegger made the off-market deal following the passing of the estate’s final owner, Hilda Rolfe. Now, the Guardians of the Galaxy star and his wife are constructing their dream home, which will be much larger than its predecessor. According to permit records obtained by Robb Report, their new property will boast a 15,000-square-foot, two-story modern farmhouse-style residence with a swimming pool and cabana in the backyard. Additionally, the location of their new home is conveniently situated across the street from Shriver’s compound, with Sofia Richie and Arianna Huffington as their neighbors.
TikTok user @vinatageonq has recently shared stunning video clips of a luxurious home that was up for sale in 2022. In her post, she couldn’t help but criticize actor Chris Pratt, calling him a “weirdo” for his involvement with the property. She even gave a shoutout to Pratt’s ex-wife, Anna Faris, at the end of her video. Unfortunately, the comments on her clip were just as harsh, with one user pointing out that Pratt seems to always play the role of a villain. Another user questioned why Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, chose to build their mansion in LA instead of somewhere else.
