Shocking video footage has emerged showing a woman attempting to avoid paying her bill at a Chinese restaurant by planting her own hair in her food. The incident, which took place at Oriental Garden in Northampton, was captured on CCTV. In the footage, the woman can be seen discreetly plucking a hair from her head and placing it on her plate while dining with a male companion. She later complained to the staff about finding a hair in her meal and allegedly left the restaurant without paying the £77 bill. This incident comes in the wake of a series of ‘dine and dash’ cases across the country, prompting Oriental Garden to implement a new policy of asking customers they do not recognize to pay upfront while placing their order.

Speaking to the MailOnline, the owner of Oriental Garden shared their experience of the incident. According to the owner, a member of staff approached them to report that a customer had found a hair in their food and wanted to speak with the owner. The hair was found perfectly placed on top of the dish, leading the owner to suspect that it had fallen from the customer’s own head. As the situation escalated, the customer began arguing and shouting before eventually pushing past the owner. Fortunately, the entire incident was captured on the restaurant’s surveillance cameras, providing evidence of the customer’s actions.

Despite the unpleasant experience, the owner expressed relief that the incident had been caught on camera. They also mentioned that the restaurant has recently experienced two additional cases of ‘dine and dash,’ resulting in a loss of nearly £200. The owner emphasized the impact of such incidents on an industry that is already struggling. Typically, Oriental Garden encounters only one or two of these incidents per year, making the recent surge particularly concerning. The restaurant hopes that by implementing the new policy of upfront payment for unfamiliar customers, they can prevent further losses and ensure fair treatment for all patrons.

A shocking incident recently took place at Oriental Garden Restaurant in Northampton, where a woman and her companion shamelessly refused to pay their bill. Witnesses reported that the duo even went so far as to push past the staff in an attempt to escape without settling their dues. This is not an isolated incident, as a worker from the nearby Mayflower Restaurant revealed that similar occurrences have happened before. According to the worker, it seems to be a trend among non-local customers who claim to be staying at a hotel.

In a similar case last month, a notorious couple named Bernard McDonagh, 41, and Ann McDonagh, 39, from Port Talbot, faced charges of fraud after repeatedly engaging in dine-and-dash incidents. Over a span of nine months, the couple managed to evade paying bills totaling £1,168 across five different restaurants. Additionally, they confessed to shoplifting items worth £1,017 from popular stores like Tommy Hilfiger, Sainsbury, and Tesco.

These incidents highlight a concerning trend of individuals taking advantage of businesses and engaging in dishonest behavior. It is crucial for restaurants and retail establishments to remain vigilant and implement measures to prevent such incidents from occurring.
