Iconic actress Shirley MacLaine is celebrating her 90th birthday with a new addition to her book collection. In addition to her impressive list of accolades, including an Oscar, an Emmy, and six Golden Globes, the star of Steel Magnolias has written numerous books throughout her eight-decade career. Shirley has authored novels on metaphysics, spirituality, and reincarnation, as well as her best-selling 1983 memoir, Out on a Limb. Now, she has announced a new book called The Wall of Life, which will feature over 150 photos and stories from her personal archives. Shirley shared, “I have lived a wonderful life and I wanted to share it. All of the photos brought back such wonderful memories.”
The photo collection in The Wall of Life will provide fans with a glimpse into Shirley’s intimate family memories and images featuring significant figures from the world of film, entertainment, and politics. Each photo is accompanied by a story that explores various themes such as ambition, love, friendship, motherhood, art, and political activism. The book is set to be released on October 22. In the meantime, Shirley plans to celebrate her milestone birthday on April 24 with a small dinner gathering with friends. She humorously adds, “We’re getting together and I hope to eat something good.”
Shirley MacLaine, known for her roles in films like The Apartment, Postcards from the Edge, and Sweet Charity, won an Oscar for her performance in Terms of Endearment in 1983. After her appearance in the 2022 series Only Murders in the Building, she will return to the screen with a new movie titled People Not Places. Shirley expresses her excitement about the project, stating, “It’s a wonderful script and we are getting ready to start and will see what happens.” As she celebrates her 90th birthday, Shirley is grateful for her ability to continue working and for her health. She says, “I have my friends and I am really healthy.”
