Author Dame Shirley Conran, famous for her book Superwoman, has passed away at the age of 91. Her son, designer Jasper Conran, confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram post. He expressed his gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and all the kind people who sent beautiful messages to his mother.

Shirley rose to fame with her book Superwoman and was recently honored with a damehood for her contributions to mathematics education. She founded the Maths Anxiety Trust and dedicated her life to promoting the subject.

Before becoming a renowned author, Dame Shirley started her career in textile design and later transitioned into journalism. She worked as a design consultant and home editor for the Daily Mail, eventually becoming the women’s editor and launching the popular Femail section. She later became women’s editor for the Observer magazine and worked as a columnist for Vanity Fair.

Dame Shirley’s books, including Superwoman, Lace, Savages, Crimson, and Tiger Eyes, have made her a household name. Superwoman, published in 1975, is considered a feminist practical guidebook.
