BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent faced backlash from viewers as she discussed the latest football results. The presenter, 52, hosted Monday’s episode of the BBC program alongside Jon Kay.

Sharing the sports updates was BBC correspondent John Watson, who reflected on the “crazy” results from the weekend. “It was a thrilling weekend all round but you feel this is the moment the title race has turned,” he told the duo.

With both Liverpool and Arsenal losing to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, it meant Manchester City went two points clear at the top of the table after their 5-1 victory against Luton.

Sally asked: “What got to Arsenal? What got to Liverpool?” This angered viewers as they questioned why there was no mention of Crystal Palace and Aston Villa’s huge wins against the top two sides.

One viewer expressed their frustration, saying: “Please BBC Breakfast, can you not admit that Aston Villa were brilliant yesterday and WON, rather than Arsenal lost the game?”

Another viewer agreed, stating: “So to Sally Nugent it was all about what happened to Liverpool & Arsenal rather than well done to Palace & Villa!!!! Pathetic!!!!”

Sally had a two-word response to this viewer as she appeared to agree with what they were saying. “Fair point” she simply wrote back. The news anchor wasn’t the only person to spark backlash as Jon also came under fire due to his “car crash” interview with David Cameron.

Sharing their thoughts about the interview online, one person wrote: “Genuinely can’t believe that you didn’t ask Cameron about the attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria that Iran retaliated to with their weekend attack.”

Another viewer fumed, saying: “Get on with it you two!!! BBC’s ‘senior’ journalist John Kay???” as a third person weighed in: “Is that Jon Kay a joke?”
