WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander.

Outlander’s Jenny Murray is set to be portrayed by a new actress in season seven part two, as someone else steps into the character’s shoes.

Jamie Fraser’s older sister Jenny Murray, played by Laura Donnelly, was a pivotal character in the Starz drama for the first three seasons of Outlander.

In the third season, Jenny made the decision to accompany Jamie to America following the death of her husband Ian Murray, believing there was no longer a reason to remain in Lallybroch.

Little did fans know at the time that this would be the last appearance of actress Laura Donnelly in the role, as she has not been seen since.

With news of Jenny’s return but a different actress taking on the role, many are curious as to why.

Outlander’s Laura Donnelly departed from the romantic drama due to her various other commitments. At the time, she was performing in The Ferryman on Broadway and was also pregnant with her second child.

However, it was not for lack of effort that Donnelly was not brought back as Jenny. Executive producer revealed in 2018 that they had every intention of including a Brianna and Jenny moment, but they kept waiting and hoping to convince Donnelly and adjust schedules. Unfortunately, it did not work out, so they had to come up with an alternative storyline.

Donnelly herself expressed doubt about a potential comeback, stating that she believed Jenny would be older and therefore unlikely to return. She has been busy with projects such as the series Britannia and the TV movie Werewolf By Night. Her most significant role to date was playing Amalie True in the fantasy series The Nevers for two years. According to her IMDb profile, Donnelly does not have any upcoming projects after her most recent film, The Heist Before Christmas.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in the spotlight since stepping back from their senior royal duties in 2020.

In a trailer for their Netflix series, Prince Harry emphasized that “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” suggesting that their lives may differ from public perception. Meghan added, “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

Reports have circulated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could receive up to $100 million for the show, although the exact figure remains unknown.

In a shocking twist, it has been revealed that Donnelly will not be making a comeback for season seven. However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as another talented actress, Kristie Atherton, will be stepping into the shoes of Jenny for part two. Atherton is widely known for her role as Vix Spark in the popular BBC school drama, Waterloo Road. But that’s not all – she has also showcased her acting skills in Rocket’s Island, K-Shop, Doctors, and The Show Must Go Online. So, mark your calendars and get ready to catch all the drama of Outlander on Starz and MGM+ via Prime Video Channels.
