Multiple tornadoes tore through Texas, causing widespread destruction and injuring multiple individuals. These twisters descended upon the Lone Star State on Thursday evening, prompting the National Weather Service office in San Angelo to issue a warning urging residents to stay weather aware and have a means of receiving alerts. Despite the warning, brave storm chasers and onlookers captured terrifying footage of the storm system.

Videos shared by Dylan Colin via Storyful depicted a massive brown tornado in the distance, with debris swirling in all directions beneath the dark cloud cover. Another clip zoomed in on a twister, revealing a man recording from a parked vehicle. In the distance, a thin gray-colored twister could be seen as the occupants of the car marveled at the awe-inspiring sight.

In yet another clip, a man stepped outside his vehicle to take a selfie with the approaching tornado. The footage also showcased a small lightning strike near the twister, followed by a massive bolt. Eventually, the man returned to the safety of the vehicle, and they began driving away.

One tornado struck west of Anson and traveled south to Truby, Hodges, and Hawley. Approximately 50 minutes later, the twister wreaked havoc on Country Road 494 and the Tye area. Although it dissipated, large hail the size of baseballs pelted the region, according to a witness.

These tornadoes struck less than a week after a devastating tornado demolished homes in Omaha, Nebraska, and left thousands without power. Additionally, over the weekend, tornadoes claimed the lives of at least four individuals, including a child, in Oklahoma. With tornado season in the US extending for several more months, areas such as Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas remain particularly susceptible to these destructive forces, as indicated by a tornado probability map created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
