AUTISTIC BOY VANISHES ON POPULAR HIKING SPOT

An autistic boy, who is mainly non-verbal, has gone missing while exploring Rivington Pike in Lancashire. James, whose age has not been disclosed, was last seen on the renowned 363-metre-high hill, located about a mile northeast of Horwich. Known for its breathtaking view of the West Pennine Moors, Rivington Pike is a popular destination for hikers.

Described as four feet tall with an average build and blonde hair, James was wearing a distinctive black coat with the word ‘adventure’ written on it. Police have emphasized that James is non-verbal, meaning he may not be able to speak or can only communicate using a limited number of words.

The police have shared two photographs of James and are urging anyone with information or sightings to immediately contact 999. In a statement, they expressed their deep concern for James’ welfare and appealed to the public for assistance. The last known sighting of James was at 12:30pm on April 28 at Rivington Pike. He was wearing a black helmet with blue and white stripes, as well as blue sports trousers.

It is important to note that James is autistic and primarily non-verbal. However, individuals with nonspeaking autism may still understand spoken words and communicate in alternative ways, such as through writing. The authorities are urging everyone to remain vigilant and report any information that could help locate James.
