REINILDO MANDAVA ATTRACTS INTEREST FROM MANCHESTER UNITED AND ASTON VILLA

Reinildo Mandava, the left-back for Atletico Madrid, is garnering attention from top European clubs. Manchester United and Aston Villa are reportedly considering making summer moves for the 30-year-old Mozambique international.

Mandava joined Atleti from Lille in January 2022 and quickly established himself as a regular in the first team. However, his progress was halted when he suffered a serious knee injury in February of the same year. This cruciate ligament tear kept him sidelined until November 2023, and he has only managed to make seven La Liga starts this season.

With just one year remaining on his contract with Atletico Madrid, Mandava has become a target for potential suitors. According to The Sun, Manchester United and Aston Villa have expressed interest in the full-back, while Juventus is also considering a bid.

Atletico Madrid may be willing to let Mandava go for a bargain price of £8m, making him an attractive option as a squad player rather than a guaranteed first choice. Manchester United, in particular, have been plagued by fitness issues at the left-back position and could benefit from adding more cover to their injury-prone duo of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Malacia has not played a single match this season due to a persistent knee injury, while Shaw has been limited to just 12 Premier League appearances. Although players like Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, and Sofyan Amrabat have filled in, none of them are natural left-backs.

Mandava, however, could provide the much-needed support for Manchester United. The Mozambique international has expressed his fearlessness in facing top players, stating, “I’m a player who doesn’t think about the other players, whether it’s Vinicius or whoever, I face every player in the same way.” He emphasized that he focuses on his defensive duties and aims to stop opponents, regardless of their reputation.

As the transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Manchester United or Aston Villa will make a move for Reinildo Mandava. With his contract expiring next year, the left-back could be a valuable addition to any team in need of defensive reinforcements.
