Sarah Brown, founder of Theirworld and wife of former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, received a message of support from Kate Garraway after her recent hospitalization. The Good Morning Britain star expressed her well wishes to Sarah, who is also the Executive Chair of Global Business Coalition for Education, following her frightening experience.

Sarah, a 60-year-old advocate for global health and education, took to social media to share her story of undergoing major surgery and spending several nights in the hospital due to severe abdominal pain. She also took the opportunity to express her gratitude towards the NHS staff who took care of her during this challenging time.

Kate, sharing Sarah’s story on X (formerly known as Twitter), sent her love to the Brown family on behalf of her 524,500 followers. The ITV presenter wrote, “Goodness – scary. So glad you are on the right side of it now. Love to you all and well said on the incredible @NHSuk staff who somehow still keep life saving work going under incredible strain.”

Yesterday, Sarah provided more details about the events that led to her hospitalization. In a Twitter thread, she explained to her 971,300 followers, “For anyone who noticed I dropped off X for a while, here’s why…

Nearly two weeks ago, while visiting Bristol and Bath, I suddenly experienced horrible abdominal pain that worsened over time. My friend called an ambulance, and after a wait, two wonderful paramedics arrived to assist me. They conducted a heart check, identified a possible gallbladder problem, and provided pain relief through IV and gas and air.”

Sarah then described how her condition deteriorated, praising the NHS staff for their dedication despite being under immense pressure. She continued, “Then the drama started when I rejected all the pain medications but they got me to the @RUHBath in a queue of 12 ambulances. My goodness the #NHS is stretched to the limit but still each and everyone there keeps it going. I was triaged, checked, and given pain medications. Eventually, I was admitted to a ward around 2am when a bed became available.”

The following day, Sarah’s condition improved thanks to antibiotics. She expressed hope of being discharged soon. However, her temperature and infection spiked again, leading to a few more days in the hospital. She described this period as a “dark time” and mentioned her reluctance to take pain medications.
