Jeremy Clarkson’s plans for a new barn at his farm have finally been approved. The TV star, 64, has been eager to expand his Diddly Squat Farm and has cited an “urgent need” for additional storage in his latest planning application. Located in Oxfordshire, the farm will now have a new 36m-long agricultural building for storing crops.

However, Clarkson’s plans have not been without obstacles. He has been embroiled in a dispute with the West Oxfordshire District Council over the site. While his proposals for a car park and a restaurant were rejected, the council’s planning committee has given him the green light for his latest venture.

According to a letter, the council stated that the plans for Diddly Squat Farm did not require prior approval as long as they are carried out in accordance with the submitted plans. The proposed building, described as an agricultural grain store, will be 18 metres long and is necessary to support the farm’s operations and ensure a sustainable and environmentally friendly business.

In his new application, Clarkson emphasized the urgent need for additional storage and how the absence of a barn was impacting the prices of the farm’s produce. The current grain store is not suitable for its purpose and is too small to support the farm’s arable operations, which involve six different crops.

Clarkson’s application also highlighted his commitment to maintaining the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stating that he is eager to work sensitively within it.
