Dexter is making a comeback! After a two-year break, fans of the hit TV series can rejoice as a prequel is on the horizon. Hollywood icon Christian Slater, known for his roles in films like Heathers and True Romance, has even joined the cast of the spin-off titled Dexter: Original Sin. In this 10-part thriller, viewers will be taken back in time to witness a younger Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson from Shadow and Bone, as he transforms from a regular American student to a vengeful serial killer. Christian Slater will portray Dexter’s father, Harry, who helps him develop a Code to track down and eliminate society’s undesirables without attracting the attention of law enforcement.

Set 15 years before the original series, Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter’s journey as he learns to embrace his dark side. The show received critical acclaim and was nominated for numerous Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. It was even recognized by the Writer’s Guild of America as one of the 101 Best Written TV Series. In 2021, Dexter was rebooted with a show set a decade after the original events.

Michael C. Hall, who portrayed the titular character in the original series, reprised his role in Dexter: New Blood. However, the show’s ending left fans devastated. On the other hand, Christian Slater’s involvement in the Dexter franchise marks his first appearance in the series, although he is no stranger to television, having previously starred in the popular show Mr. Robot. This ’90s legend has also graced the big screen with his performances in films like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Interview with the Vampire, and Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac.
