THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF TO STAY ON CHANNEL 4 DESPITE INTEREST FROM NETFLIX AND DISNEY+

In a surprising turn of events, it has been revealed that The Great British Bake Off will remain on Channel 4, despite rumors that streaming giants Netflix and Disney+ were vying for the popular show. The baking competition, which first aired in 2010 on the BBC before moving to Channel 4, was reportedly at the center of a bidding war due to its global appeal.

According to an insider, the involvement of these two major corporations significantly increased the show’s value. Additionally, streaming platforms are interested in combining their model with shows that follow a weekly schedule. However, a recent update from a television insider has confirmed that the show will be staying put on Channel 4.

The production company behind The Great British Bake Off, Love Productions, reportedly wants to make the show accessible to its loyal fanbase. Despite the potential for multi-million pound deals with streamers, Love Productions has decided to stick with Channel 4, allowing the entire nation to tune in to what has become a national treasure.

Channel 4 and Love Productions are currently in discussions to finalize the details, with the assumption that the show will remain on the channel. This news comes after the departure of former host Alison Hammond, who was replaced by a new presenter for series 14 last year.

It is worth noting that Paul Hollywood, the show’s longest-serving member, will continue to be a part of The Great British Bake Off. He has been a fixture on the show since its inception and has seen co-judges come and go. Dame Mary Berry was initially his co-judge before being replaced by Prue Leith in 2017. However, Prue recently announced that she will not be participating in next year’s Celebrity series due to other work commitments.

As fans eagerly await the announcement of the new temporary judge for the show, bookmaker Betway has released odds on potential candidates. This Morning’s Juliet Sear is currently the favorite at 3/1, followed by Lorraine Pascale at 4/1. Former winners Candice Brown, Nadiya Hussain, and Tilly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay, are also in the running at 7/1 odds.
