MAN UTD BOSS FIGHTING FOR HIS JOB AS LEGEND BACKS SURPRISE REPLACEMENT

Erik ten Hag is facing a battle to save his position as Manchester United manager, with Dwight Yorke backing a Premier League rival to turn things around at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are on track for their worst-ever Premier League finish, currently sitting in eighth place ahead of the final day of the season.

Ten Hag’s team has struggled this season, winning less than half of their league matches and suffering an early exit from the Champions League group stage.

While winning the FA Cup could lift the mood at Old Trafford, it remains uncertain whether it would be enough to secure Ten Hag’s future.

United have already been considering potential replacements, with England manager Gareth Southgate and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel among the names linked to the club.

However, Yorke believes that current Premier League manager Unai Emery could be the man to revive Manchester United, following his success with Aston Villa.

Under Emery’s guidance, Villa finished fourth in the Premier League this season, securing a spot in the Champions League for the first time.

“Aston Villa have had a fantastic season,” said Yorke, a former Villa and United striker. “Unai Emery is a brilliant manager with a lot of experience and has done a remarkable job in getting Villa to that position in the top four.

“He has all the ingredients and has been very impressive this season. If he’s able to get Aston Villa into the top four, then imagine what he would be able to do with Manchester United!”

Yorke, who enjoyed a successful career at Old Trafford, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League, has been unimpressed with United’s performances under Ten Hag, noting a lack of structure and identity in the team.

“People aren’t blind,” Yorke added. “There seems to be a lack of structure and identity with what they’re trying to do on the pitch.

“Every time you turn on the TV, you’re not sure what you’re going to see – you often see some good stuff, but you sometimes see some really ugly stuff in between.

Former Manchester United player Dwight Yorke has expressed his disappointment with the team’s inconsistent form. In an interview with Metro, Yorke highlighted the lack of a middle ground between good and bad performances, which he believes is detrimental to a struggling team. He also criticized the lacklustre style of play, suggesting that the players do not fully understand their individual roles. Yorke went on to suggest that there are occasions where it appears the players are not listening to the manager’s instructions and are instead doing their own thing. Manchester United will face Brighton in their final Premier League match of the season before turning their attention to the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
