“I believe they have a relationship of mutual respect. I just found their relationship really special. He cares a lot about her opinion. I remember thinking their relationship was really special. They laughed a lot when she came into the Oval Office.”
Westerhout also shared some ordinary moments between the couple, such as Trump calling Melania to let her know he was running late, just like any other marriage. She revealed that he liked to romance his wife in subtle ways, like waving to each other from the window or calling her before boarding Marine One. These cute anecdotes offer a rare glimpse into the Trumps’ relationship that is not often heard.
This fresh insight comes after Melania’s former BFF and senior adviser, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, hinted at trouble in paradise. In a video clip posted on X in March, Wolkoff wrote, “Let me bottom line this for you. Perception is everything to the Trump Family, so Donald’s lack of ‘chivalry’ towards Melania is quite a ‘tell.’ Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He’s been doing neither recently.”
