Doctor Who Star Admits Slim Chances of Replacing Ralf Little on Death In Paradise

Peter Davison, best known for his role as the Fifth Doctor in the 1980s, has revealed his thoughts on the possibility of replacing Ralf Little on the hit ITV show Death In Paradise. The 72-year-old actor, who is recognized for his iconic cricket whites and celery lapel accessory, played the Doctor for two series and has since appeared in various television and film projects. However, he admits that opportunities have become scarcer as he has grown older, making it unlikely for him to be chosen as Little’s replacement. Speaking to The Mirror, Davison said, “I’ve noticed the parts are smaller now. I still get offered work, but I’m not in that top tier anymore.” Despite this, he remains open to the challenge but acknowledges that the show may opt for a younger actor.

Davison’s career has included roles in black comedies such as A Very Peculiar Practice and At Home With the Braithwaites, as well as appearances in crime dramas Vera and Inspector Lewis. Reflecting on his career, he acknowledges the importance of luck in the industry and considers himself fortunate for the opportunities he has had. He experienced a successful period during his time on Doctor Who and A Very Peculiar Practice, followed by a quiet phase before making a comeback with At Home and The Last Peculiar Detective. More recently, he appeared in the Doctor Foster spin-off Life.

Interestingly, Davison has already made an appearance on Death In Paradise, starring as screenwriter Arnold Finch in a 2014 episode of the sunny crime drama. With his extensive experience in both stage and screen, he is set to appear in a London revival of Kiss Me, Kate this summer alongside Stephanie J Block. Additionally, he will be seen on Death In Paradise’s spin-off show Beyond Paradise, where he will portray the love interest of Barbara Flynn’s character, Anne Lloyd.

PETER REVEALS HOW ROLES HAVE DIMINISHED OVER THE YEARS

In a recent interview, Peter opened up about his role and expressed his hope that viewers would be disappointed. He even questioned the producer about the possibility of explaining himself. “I suppose it’s important that they are disappointed in a way because that’s the idea, isn’t it?” Peter cryptically stated. He also added, “Well, the thing is, it is rather baffling – so there must be something behind it.”

RALF LITTLE’S DEATH IN PARADISE REPLACEMENT YET TO BE FOUND

After four years of playing DI Neville Parker on Death in Paradise, Ralf Little has bid farewell to the show. As the longest-serving lead actor, he follows in the footsteps of Ben Miller, Kris Marshall, and Ardal O’Hanlon. In the final scene of the 13th season, Neville and DS Florence Cassell sailed off into the sunset together, finding their happily ever after.

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT STAR OF DEATH IN PARADISE?

With the confirmation of a 14th season and a Christmas special on the way, fans are eager to know who will replace Ralf Little. According to bookmakers Betfred, Simon Bird, known for his role in The Inbetweeners, is the favorite with odds of 4/1. Diane Morgan, star of Motherland, follows closely behind with odds of 7/1. Other names being discussed include Jodie Whittaker, Romesh Ranganathan, and Mathew Horne from Gavin and Stacey.
