SOAP STAR JANE DANSON REVEALS SWEET WAY SHE MET HUSBAND ROBERT BECK
Jane Danson, famous for her role as Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street, recently shared a heartwarming story about how she first introduced herself to her now husband, Robert Beck. The 46-year-old actress took to Instagram to commemorate their 25-year anniversary since their first encounter.
In a series of adorable photos, Jane and the Emmerdale actor can be seen together. She captioned the post, “‘Excuse me, do you know where the bar is?’ @robertbeck529 😂❤️(that was me asking as I was standing right next to it!) Soaps Awards May 15th, 1999! And the rest, as they say, is history.”
The couple initially crossed paths at the inaugural British Soap Awards in 1999. Robert, 55, has been a familiar face on television screens since the 90s, gaining recognition for his role as Peter Harrison in the Channel 4 soap Brookside. He later appeared in popular sitcom The Upper Hand and also had a stint on Emmerdale as Gavin Ferris.
Jane’s husband, Robert, has also made appearances on Coronation Street as criminal Jimmy Dockerson and in Hollyoaks as Fergus Collins. Unfortunately, his character in Hollyoaks met a tragic end when he was murdered by Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) in November 2021.
Jane has always spoken highly of her husband, describing him as her best friend. The couple has maintained a strong and harmonious relationship over the years, with only a few minor disagreements. Jane said, “I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes, but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals.”
The actress also revealed that Robert was her childhood crush when she first saw him on Brookside. She even had a sticker of him on her pencil case, despite him being ten years older than her. Jane has drawn parallels between their own relationship and that of her character, Leanne, and Ben Tilsley (Nick Price) on Coronation Street. She acknowledged that while Leanne’s life is filled with drama, their real-life romance is much more stable.
Jane and Robert’s love story is a testament to their enduring bond and the deep connection they share. As they celebrate 25 years together, fans can’t help but admire their love and commitment to each other.
