WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Bodkin!

Bodkin, the latest addition to Netflix’s vast library, has captivated subscribers with its intriguing storyline. The series follows a group of true crime podcasters as they venture into the remote Irish town of Bodkin to investigate a cold case. Little did they know that they would soon find themselves entangled in the town’s eerie and sinister secrets. Will they be able to uncover the truth without jeopardizing their own lives?

Netflix dropped all seven episodes of Bodkin on Thursday, May 9, much to the excitement of fans. Prior to its release, a teaser trailer sparked confusion with two title cards. One claimed that the show was “Based on a true story*,” while the other stated “*Overheard in a pub.” Some viewers mistakenly believed that Bodkin was based on real events. However, the creators have explicitly clarified that this is not the case.

Executive producer Alex Metcalf emphasized, “Not a real story, not a real place.” Creator Jez Scharf further explained, “It’s a fake town, it’s a fake place. It’s all fake people. The mystery itself was deliberately crafted to be completely detached from any real true crime story.” While Bodkin may not be rooted in reality, its cast and creators have undoubtedly made it a standout thriller on Netflix.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in the spotlight since their decision to step back from senior royal duties in 2020. A new Netflix series about the couple aims to shed light on their lives, with Prince Harry asserting that “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.” The show offers a chance for them to share their story directly with the public, challenging preconceived notions. Speculation about the couple’s earnings from the series has been circulating, with reports suggesting a potential $100 million deal. However, the actual figures remain undisclosed.

The trio of true crime podcasters is causing a stir in the entertainment world. Gilbert, played by Saturday Night Live’s Will Forte, Emmy, portrayed by Ackley Bridge’s Robyn Cara, and The Dry’s Siobhan Cullen as Dove, are capturing the attention of audiences everywhere.

What makes Bodkin even more intriguing is its connection to the famous production company, Higher Ground. Owned by none other than Barack and Michelle Obama, Higher Ground has been responsible for other successful projects such as the children’s show Waffles and Mochi’s Restaurant and the Julia Roberts movie Leave The World Behind.

If you’re interested in diving into the world of Bodkin, you’re in luck. The show is available to stream on Netflix, so you can binge-watch to your heart’s content.
