An Australian TV host was left visibly uncomfortable after a guest recreated the tragic turbulence incident on Singapore Airlines. The incident occurred on a flight from London to Singapore, where the plane experienced severe turbulence, causing it to drop 7,000ft in just six minutes. With 229 people on board, passengers were sent flying into the plane’s ceiling, resulting in injuries and even a passenger’s death. The following day, Sunrise host Natalie Barr was speaking to CNN aviation expert Richard Quest to discuss the incident, but things took a strange turn.
As Quest prepared to explain what happened, he pulled out props to re-enact the “damage and destruction.” He began by showing a miniature replica of a plane, explaining how it encountered bad weather over Myanmar without any prior warning. He then held up a piece of paper with hidden numbers, highlighting a column in yellow. According to Quest, these numbers indicated that the plane went up and down by a few hundred feet at a time. Despite the seemingly small movements, the force and velocity were so intense that it caused significant damage.
In an attempt to further illustrate the turbulence, Quest even used a makeup compact as a prop. Barr looked unsure and uncomfortable throughout the demonstration, as Quest continued to explain the intensity of the turbulence and how it caused passengers to be flung into the air.
