FERN BRITTON TEASES RETURN TO THIS MORNING AFTER BIG BROTHER STINT

Following her highly anticipated return to television on Celebrity Big Brother, Fern Britton has hinted at a possible comeback to This Morning, the show she left fifteen years ago. The 66-year-old made an appearance on the popular ITV program to discuss her time in the Big Brother house, sparking speculation about her potential return to the morning show.

During her studio appearance, Fern revealed that the production team approached her and extended an invitation to return in a different capacity, an offer she is currently considering. Speaking to Women and Home Magazine, she said, “When my interview finished and I left the studio, I was approached by a member of the production team who asked, ‘Would you like to do some little films with us?'”

While the conversation about her possible return is yet to happen, Fern expressed her enthusiasm for the idea of doing occasional four-minute films. She added, “If I could do them in Cornwall, that would be even more perfect!”

Reflecting on her past experience on the show, Fern mentioned the joy of reuniting with some of her former colleagues. She said, “So many of the team that I worked with are still there, and it was a real trip down memory lane. It was wonderful to be close to people who meant a lot to me. The morning that I resigned, I’d not even thought of leaving the show, so I left behind a lot of good stuff and a lot of good friends, so [going back] was lovely.”

Fern Britton became a household name during her ten-year tenure as the host of This Morning from 1999 to 2009, alongside her former co-host Phillip Schofield. The pair’s relationship reportedly soured during their time presenting the show together, leading to Fern’s departure in 2009 amidst rumors of pay disparity.

Although the exact reason for their falling out has never been disclosed, both Fern and Phillip have made subtle jabs at each other in the media over the years. Following Fern’s exit, Holly Willoughby took over as the show’s host, a position she held until her departure last year.

In his autobiography, Life is What You Make it, published in 2020, Phillip Schofield addressed his feud with Fern and shed light on the circumstances that led to their falling out. He revealed that they had disagreements over the show’s content and that he was “stunned” when Fern accused him of “meddling”. Phillip wrote, “I walked back into the make-up room and calmly said, ‘Please don’t do that to me again.’ I think, for whatever reason, that was the point that Fern decided she didn’t want to do This Morning anymore.”
