Recalling the events of that evening, Brandreth shared, “We were at the theatre watching Animal Crackers, a show about the Marx brothers, when Rod kept complaining about his malfunctioning Sky aerial. In response, I casually suggested that he fix it himself by climbing onto the roof with a ladder.”
Regrettably, Hull took Brandreth’s advice to heart. Despite the treacherous weather conditions, he returned home and attempted to rectify the issue. Tragically, the strong winds caused him to lose his balance and fall from the ladder, resulting in his untimely demise.
Although Brandreth was not physically present during the incident, he admits to feeling a sense of guilt for inadvertently encouraging his friend’s fatal decision.
In a surprising twist, it was revealed that Hull had made unique arrangements for his funeral. As the coffin was carried into the service, mourners were startled by a constant tapping sound emanating from within. It was later discovered that Hull had arranged for a beak sound, mimicking Emu, to be played from inside the coffin, adding a quirky touch to his farewell.
