While the outfit received 1.2 million likes on TikTok, it failed to impress some fans. Many compared the dress to a hairdresser’s cape, with comments like “Going for a haircut?” and “When you walk out of the barber still wearing the cape.” Some TikTokers even joked that Sam was in “the eid spirit” and wearing an “abaya,” a robe-like dress worn by Muslim women. Despite the mixed reactions, Maurice Kamara, the owner of The People Gallery TikTok account, praised Sam’s look as “amazing” in a short interview.
The dress that Sam wore is a Rick Owens Lido Runway Tabard Gown in black, which costs €2,690 (£2,312). Alongside the comparisons to a hairdresser’s robe and an abaya, some fans also likened the outfit to characters from Harry Potter and Dune. Despite the criticism, Sam remained positive and shared a styling tip: “Every day start again. That’s what I do personally.”
