Prue Leith, the 84-year-old TV baking judge, has revealed her love for cruising around Gloucestershire villages on a Tri Glide motorcycle with her husband, John Playfair. Playfair has even discovered the exact revs at which the bike’s engine can set off nearby car alarms, much to the amusement of the couple. Prue admits that while she initially found the noise pollution irritating, the villagers actually love the sound of the Harley. She describes the experience of riding on the bike as safe and enjoyable, comparing it to a Reliant Robin tricycle. Prue and John often go on pub crawls together, with Prue handling the drinking and John taking charge of the driving.

Prue, who is the mother of Tory MP Daniel Kruger, married John in 2016 and they currently reside in a barn conversion in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. They live with their two Cavalier Spaniels and enjoy the comfort and convenience of their home. Prue admits that she is not a fan of household chores, but she does participate in washing up using their dishwashers. She loves cooking and gardening but prefers to avoid activities that require kneeling and bending due to her age. Instead, she leaves the heavy work to John and focuses on “pretend gardening” by planting troughs.

During the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Prue served as an ambassador for the Freedom from Torture charity. She showcased her baking skills by making bread using wood in the Sanctuary for Survivors garden. Prue also contributed a recipe to the charity’s new fundraising book. Currently, she is filming the Great American Baking Show alongside fellow GBBO judge Paul Hollywood. Interestingly, the latest season is being shot at Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, as it is more cost-effective for the production team to have the make-up artists and hairstylists come to the UK.
