Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, has enlisted the help of a high-profile divorce attorney to handle his separation from wife Karen Gordon. The attorney in question is Fiona Shackleton, who is known for her negotiation skills and previously represented Prince Charles during his highly publicized divorce from Diana in 1996. Shackleton also worked with Prince Andrew during his divorce from Sarah Ferguson that same year. Additionally, she has famously represented celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney and Madonna in their respective divorces. However, Shackleton’s services come at a hefty price, with charges exceeding £550 ($700) per hour.

The news of Spencer’s legal defense comes shortly after he publicly announced his divorce from Gordon, expressing his sadness and stating his desire to focus on his children and grandchildren. The couple, who married in 2011, have a 12-year-old daughter named Charlotte Diana, named in honor of Spencer’s late sister. Spencer has been previously married twice, first to Victoria Lockwood from 1989 to 1997, and then to Caroline Freud from 2001 to 2007. Gordon, on the other hand, has two daughters from her previous marriage to Hollywood producer Mark Gordon.

The breakdown of Spencer and Gordon’s relationship reportedly occurred during the writing of Spencer’s memoir, “A Very Private School,” which delves into his childhood trauma. The process of writing the book took a toll on Spencer’s mental health, leading him to seek residential trauma treatment. Throughout this challenging period, Gordon remained supportive of her husband’s decision, understanding the importance of his healing and well-being. Spencer is grateful to have her by his side during this essential process.

Amid the separation, Spencer has been seen spending time with Norwegian archaeologist Cat Jarman, with whom he co-hosts a history podcast. While it is still early days, friends of the couple have noted that they appear happy together.
