Nicki Minaj’s concert in Manchester, UK, has been delayed after she was detained by authorities in Amsterdam. The Co-op Live arena announced the delay, stating that the doors will now open at 7:00 p.m. instead of the original 6:30 p.m. start time. The delay came after Minaj live-streamed herself being told by police in Amsterdam that she was under arrest for allegedly carrying drugs. Despite the officer’s instructions to stop recording and enter the police vehicle, Minaj refused and demanded to speak to her lawyer. Eventually, she calmly entered the vehicle. In a separate video, an official informed Minaj that her baggage would be searched because they believed she had more drugs. Minaj expressed frustration over the situation, stating that the pre-rolls they found belonged to her security. She also mentioned that the pilot wanted her to take down her Instagram post. Minaj provided a final update, stating that she had to go to the police precinct to make a statement about her security. It is unclear whether she was detained or on her way to the UK. Fans outside the arena chanted “Free Nicki!” and expressed frustration over the arrest. According to the Netherlands’ government website, individuals will not be prosecuted for marijuana possession as long as they have no more than 5 grams. Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2” world tour started in California in March.
