Miranda Lambert and ex-husband Blake Shelton had an unexpected reunion at the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16. Despite being married from 2011 to 2015, the exes attended the star-studded event with their current partners. Lambert, stunning in a plunging black gown with turquoise jewels, was accompanied by her husband Brendan McLoughlin. Shelton, on the other hand, took the stage with his wife Gwen Stefani.

Although both Lambert and Shelton made efforts to avoid each other, they couldn’t entirely escape seeing one another throughout the night. During the awards show, Shelton and Stefani performed their latest song, “Purple Irises,” while Lambert took the stage to deliver her powerful anthem, “Wranglers.” Despite their history, there seems to be no bad blood between Lambert and Shelton. In fact, a source revealed that Lambert is happy for her ex-husband and they are on civil terms.

It’s clear that Lambert’s new song, “Wranglers,” holds personal meaning for her. In a statement, she explained that the lyrics reflect a relatable experience of finding strength and seeking revenge after being wronged. It’s possible that the song could be a subtle nod to Shelton. Regardless, it’s evident that Lambert and Shelton will always be connected within the country music industry.
