Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have never been shy about showing their affection for each other, and their recent trip to Nigeria proved just that. Body language expert Judi James observed their behavior as they arrived at State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s house on May 12, and it seems their PDA has reached new levels.

According to James, there is a certain parent/child dynamic in their body language, as they perform small dance-like rituals to avoid letting go of each other’s hands. They seem to want to cling together for affection and create tie signs, such as small steering touches or moments of reassurance, while in public. Even when they had to briefly let go of each other’s hands, Harry seemed reluctant and Meghan had to clasp his wrist to reassure him.

Once their hands were securely clasped again, Harry appeared to calm down. They even engaged in a “secret” tie sign of affection by rubbing each other’s thumbs and meshing their fingers to intensify the signal of bonding.

After their moment at the podium, the couple took turns signing the visitors’ book. Meghan took charge again, holding Harry’s wrist in a maternal style of touch ritual.

It’s clear that Meghan and Harry have a strong connection and aren’t afraid to show their love for each other in public. Their PDA has certainly set a new trend in the royal family.
