Passengers on a Ryanair flight from London to Dublin may have been exposed to measles, according to the latest warning from the Health Service Executive (HSE). The HSE is concerned that those on board Flight FR123, which travelled between Gatwick and Dublin at 8.10pm last Thursday, may have contracted the contagious disease. This comes after more than 74 cases of measles were detected in London in April alone. The HSE is advising passengers and crew to be vigilant for symptoms of measles for 21 days from exposure, until June 7. Those who have received two MMR vaccines, have previously been infected with measles, or were born in Ireland before 1978 are likely immune.

The greatest risk is to children under 12 months old, pregnant women, and people who are immunocompromised. Those who are not in these high-risk groups are urged to avoid contact with vulnerable individuals, including pregnant women, babies under 12 months old, and people with weakened immune systems, until after June 7. Healthcare workers are asked to notify their line manager if they have been in contact with a measles case. Additionally, individuals who have not been vaccinated with two doses of MMR are advised to contact their GP during normal working hours to discuss whether they require vaccination.
