McDonald’s UK has just launched an exciting collaboration for anime fans. Yu-Gi-Oh! and Hello Kitty have joined forces to bring limited edition Happy Meals to customers. Each Happy Meal comes with a toy featuring a Hello Kitty character, but with a Yu-Gi-Oh! twist. The packaging also showcases the iconic white cat alongside Yami Yugi. Starting from May 8th, there are 10 plush toys to collect. While Happy Meals are typically aimed at children, it’s understandable if Millennials want to indulge in a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Who can forget sneaking Yu-Gi-Oh! cards into school or proudly displaying a Hello Kitty pencil case?

Customers also have the option to scan a QR code on the Happy Meal box to create a digital version of their toy and watch it come to life in an animated story. For those dining in the restaurant, children will receive a Hello Kitty or Yami Yugi headband, flag, and activity sheet. Parents ordering through Drive-Thru or Delivery can also receive a special Yu-Gi-Oh! X Hello Kitty and Friends game and activity sheet to enjoy with their children at home. This collaboration marks McDonald’s UK’s first venture into anime-themed Happy Meals, coinciding with Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the Hello Kitty and Friends characters featured in the Happy Meal collection. Hello Kitty herself is wearing a cone-shaped purple hat, similar to the Dark Magian. Hello Kitty’s best friend, a white rabbit from Japanese lifestyle brand Sanrio, has been inspired by the Dark Magician Girl card. The golden retriever, usually seen wearing a brown beret, now sports a gold headpiece inspired by the Exodia The Forbidden One Yu-Gi-Oh! card. The Sanrio-designed penguin, known for its unamused expression, wears a black dragon headpiece with red eyes. The cute white puppy has been redesigned to incorporate the Blue-Eyes White Dragon card. The frog character, straight from Donut Pond, looks adorable in a brown ensemble resembling Kuriboh. The Obelisk The Tormentor card may seem menacing, but when merged with Tuxedosam, the smartest penguin in the Hello Kitty universe, it becomes incredibly adorable. Finally, Kuromi, a white rabbit character from the My Melody universe, swaps her black hat for a dragon head dress inspired by the Slifer The Sky Dragon card.

Chocoat, the adorable white pup from the Hello Kitty and Friends universe, is now available in a special gold edition. The pup is seen in the McDonald’s collection striking his iconic pose, dressed in garments inspired by the Time Wizard card. You can get your hands on this limited edition plush toy for just £3.49.

In addition to the cute toys, McDonald’s Happy Meals also offer a variety of delicious options. You can choose between Fish Fingers, Chicken McNuggets, or Veggie Dippers as your main course. Each meal comes with a side of pineapple sticks or apple and grape bag, and a choice of water, milk, or Fruit Shoot as a drink. Don’t wait too long to collect these plush toys, as they will only be available until June 18th.
