Disney composer Richard M. Sherman, known for his iconic film scores, has passed away at the age of 95. Alongside his late brother Robert B. Sherman, he created beloved songs such as “Trust in Me” from Jungle Book and “Truly Scrumptious” from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The talented brothers also worked on classics like Mary Poppins and the attraction It’s a Small World.

Sherman died on May 25 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills due to age-related illness. Throughout his impressive 65-year career, he received numerous accolades, including two Oscars for Mary Poppins, three Grammy Awards, and 24 gold and platinum albums.

CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, paid tribute to Sherman, describing him as a true Disney Legend. He emphasized the lasting impact of the Sherman Brothers’ music, which has become an integral part of many people’s lives. Iger extended his deepest condolences to Sherman’s family.

Renowned Pixar Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter also shared his admiration for Sherman, highlighting his infectious joy for life. Docter expressed how Richard’s love for life was evident in his music, and how being around him was inspiring and rejuvenating.
