MAN UTD DISAPPOINTED AS DECLAN RICE AND HARRY KANE SLIP THROUGH THEIR FINGERS

The Manchester United squad has been left disappointed after the club’s failure to secure the signings of Declan Rice and Harry Kane last summer, according to reports. Despite being heavily linked with the English duo, United missed out on both players, with Rice joining Arsenal from West Ham and Kane moving to Bayern Munich from Tottenham.

Rice and Kane went on to have exceptional first seasons at their new clubs, with Rice helping Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title and Kane scoring an impressive 44 goals in 45 games for Bayern. United boss Erik ten Hag had pushed for the signing of Kane, but the club’s decision-makers deemed a potential negotiation with Tottenham too difficult and felt that Kane was over-priced.

Instead of securing Kane’s services, Manchester United strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Rasmus Hojlund. However, the Danish striker had a disappointing first season in the Premier League. According to The Athletic, several players at Old Trafford had hoped and expected Kane to arrive last summer. Casemiro, in particular, believed that the England captain would elevate the team to the next level after their third-place finish.

Similarly, many United players supported Ten Hag’s pursuit of Rice last year. Although the Red Devils did eventually contact West Ham about a possible move, negotiations were already advanced with Arsenal by that point.

Ten Hag’s interest in Rice continued into the summer of 2022, but the 25-year-old midfielder ultimately chose to join United’s Premier League rivals, Arsenal. The manager also reportedly met with Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford, but ultimately decided against it. Furthermore, Ten Hag still regrets not being able to bring Frenkie de Jong to United.

Former Old Trafford hero Teddy Sheringham criticized the club for failing to sign Rice and Kane, describing it as a “damning lack of ambition” for a club of Manchester United’s stature.

Casemiro Reportedly Urges Manchester United to Sign Harry Kane

According to reports, Casemiro has expressed his desire for Manchester United to sign Harry Kane. The Brazilian midfielder believes that the addition of Kane, along with Declan Rice, would bring immense quality to both the Premier League and international level.

In the past, legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson would have wasted no time in securing the services of these two exceptional players. Not only would United be gaining immense talent, but also professionalism, a winning mentality, and leadership qualities.

Currently, Manchester United lacks a player who can set the standards and motivate the team. Instead, there is a sense of complacency among the players, with each individual solely focused on their own performance. This attitude is not conducive to winning titles.

True leaders, like Kane and Rice, have the ability to lift their teammates, even on days when their own performance may not be at its best. Their presence and talent are invaluable in getting the team through tough matches and securing results.

The fact that these two players were not even on Manchester United’s radar is a wake-up call for the club. It highlights the drastic changes that have occurred in recent times. Despite their disappointing finish in the previous Premier League season, the club has decided to continue with their current manager, Ten Hag, who has already proven his worth by winning the FA Cup.

The future of Manchester United remains uncertain, but the potential signing of Harry Kane could be a game-changer. It would not only bring a world-class striker to the team but also a leader who can inspire and elevate the performance of those around him.
