Lidl, the popular bargain supermarket, is set to open numerous new stores across the UK, giving more people the opportunity to shop at their favorite retailer. The new branches will be located in Bristol, Birmingham, Berwick, Fulham, Wandsworth, Hoxton, and Canning Town in London. Additionally, Lidl is actively seeking locations in Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Woking, Wadebridge, Dumfries, Didcot, and other parts of London.

Excitingly, Lidl is offering a generous finders’ fee to anyone who suggests a site for a new supermarket that ultimately gets built. They are specifically looking for prominent locations with easy access and strong pedestrian or traffic flow. The required space for a standalone store is 1.5+ acres, while mixed-use schemes would need up to four acres. The supermarket is open to freehold, leasehold, or long leasehold spaces, as they have a flexible approach. However, the sites must be able to accommodate unit sizes ranging from 18,000 to 26,500 sq ft and have over 100 dedicated car parking spaces.

Individuals who successfully identify a suitable location for Lidl will be rewarded with a finder’s fee. This fee can either be 1.5% of the total freehold purchase price or 10% of the first year’s rent for leaseholds. For instance, if a site purchase is completed for £1.5m, the finder’s fee would amount to £22,500.

Richard Taylor, Lidl GB Chief Development Officer, expressed the supermarket’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality produce to households across the country. He stated that Lidl plans to open hundreds of new stores and has no limits on their ambition or growth potential. The company is dedicated to investing in new locations and exploring innovative routes to expansion. Taylor also mentioned that they are excited to welcome new shoppers to their existing stores and the upcoming stores that will be opened in the coming months and years.

For now, we’ll be searching the web for potential locations and daydreaming about how we would use that kind of money.
