Kevin Costner’s return to Yellowstone for “three more seasons” has been halted due to scheduling conflicts and delays. Fans of the Paramount Network were disappointed to learn that Costner would not be appearing in the remaining episodes of season five, part two. The 69-year-old actor had been balancing his time between Yellowstone and his lifelong passion project, the Western film franchise Horizon: An American Saga. However, production delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic and strikes by actors and writers affected his availability for Horizon. Costner expressed his frustration with the unpredictable schedules, stating that he was willing to accept the delays but couldn’t continue in that manner. The decision to split season five into two parts also posed a problem for Costner, as he already had a contract for Horizon. Despite his efforts to work with production on scheduling, the scripts for Yellowstone never materialized. Costner revealed that he was ready to continue with Yellowstone if there hadn’t been behind-the-scenes issues. He cherished his time on the show and never expected it to go beyond one season, but ended up doing five. He had even been prepared to do three more seasons (five, six, and seven), but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Costner emphasized that any potential return to Yellowstone would depend on the conditions and scripts, without going into further detail.

Production on the highly anticipated season five, part two of Yellowstone has finally begun in Montana. Originally scheduled to start in March, filming was delayed for several months. Despite the setbacks, fans can still expect the show to make its return in November 2024 as previously announced. However, it remains uncertain whether Kevin Costner will be reprising his role in the final episodes. Don’t miss out on the thrilling drama of Yellowstone, available to watch on Paramount Network.
