Kelly Rowland unapologetic for Cannes red carpet outburst

Kelly Rowland is standing her ground after her recent outburst on the Cannes red carpet. The 43-year-old singer got emotional as she opened up about the incident, stating that she has no regrets. “That woman knows what happened. I know what happened,” Rowland told AP News at the amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Cannes Gala. “I have boundaries and I stand by them.”

Rowland also pointed out that other women at the event did not face the same treatment. “There were other women that attended that carpet who did not quite look like me and they didn’t get scolded, or pushed off, or told to get off,” she said. “I stood my ground and she felt like she had to stand hers. But I stood my ground.”

The altercation occurred earlier this week when Rowland was attending the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. She had a heated exchange with a security guard while walking up the red carpeted stairs. Rowland turned to face the staffer and reprimanded her, raising her finger in the guard’s face. A lip reader revealed that Rowland said, “Don’t talk to me like that. You’re not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.”

The reason for the confrontation is still unclear, but an insider claimed that Rowland was pushed to her limit due to the aggressive behavior of the staff helping stars navigate the crowded carpet. “By the time [Rowland] got to the last woman, she had had it because she scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot,” the source explained.

Despite the incident, Rowland returned to the film festival the next day for the premiere of “The Count of Monte Cristo.” She looked apprehensive but elegant in a pearl-colored one-shoulder gown and a silver diamond necklace.
