Former “Southern Charm” star Kathryn Dennis caused a scene after being arrested for driving under the influence on Monday night in South Carolina. In a video obtained by TMZ, Dennis can be seen arguing with police officers as they conducted field sobriety tests before placing her in handcuffs.
During the altercation, the 32-year-old asked why she was in trouble when the officer told her to put her hands behind her back. Once she was placed in the backseat of the police car, Dennis continued arguing with the officer in the front.
“You guys are ruining my life and my kids’ lives,” she exclaimed. “Thanks for nothing.”
Despite Dennis’ claims that the police didn’t conduct a field sobriety test, dash camera footage showed her being guided through exercises such as the walk-and-turn test and the one-leg stand test. When the officer mentioned a blood alcohol test, Dennis responded by saying she wasn’t “stupid” and knew how it would play out.
“This is some bulls—t,” she continued. “It’s really messed up for you guys to just take people in like this. What about their kids? It could really affect their children’s lives.”
Dennis shares two children, Kensington (10) and Saint Julien (8), with her ex Thomas Ravenel. Despite claiming that she doesn’t care about the consequences, she later expressed that she didn’t deserve to be arrested.
“You’re treating me like an animal, it’s just crazy,” she told the officer as he buckled her in. “Get out of my face. Why are you so close to me?”
As the officer closed the door, Dennis called him “disgusting” and “gross” for invading her personal space. Unexpectedly, she began crying and pleaded to have her dog, who was in the car during the accident.
“I want my dog! I want my puppy! Please let me have my puppy,” she exclaimed. Dennis also threatened to sue the police if they took her dog to an animal shelter.
“He means everything to me,” she pleaded. “This is bulls—t. I just want my dog to be okay.”
The video concluded with Dennis promising to “ruin” the police once she is released. A representative for Dennis did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The former reality TV star was arrested in Goose Creek, S.C., following a three-car collision. Police reported that Dennis had glossy eyes and the smell of alcohol emanating from her. An open container was also allegedly found in her vehicle.
Dennis has been open about her struggles with substance abuse in the past, having completed a rehab program in Malibu, Calif. However, she revealed in August 2019 that she is not fully sober and still consumes alcohol.
