Not only did she have to put on a glamorous Hollywood appearance and promote her Netflix project, but she had to do it without Ben Affleck amidst rumors of their separation. It was a challenging task for her, as she probably wasn’t feeling her best on the inside, even though she looked stunning on the outside.
But let’s not jump to conclusions about Lopez and Affleck’s marriage just yet. Affleck was unable to attend her premiere because he was at his oldest daughter Violet’s high school graduation with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. This understandable reason for his absence didn’t make Lopez’s night any easier as she faced the red-carpet cameras alone during a vulnerable time.
Thankfully, Lopez’s publicity team had her back. Her Entertainment Tonight interview was a friendly affair, with her co-stars Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown joining her. They were asked, “Who is one person or one thing you can always trust in?” Of course, everyone was eager to hear Lopez’s answer. With a slight smile, she responded, “One thing you can always trust in? Oh, God — family.” The “Jenny From the Block” singer kept the interview lighthearted, showcasing her professionalism in handling PR, which seems to be a point of contention when it comes to Affleck.
Insiders close to Affleck describe his marriage to Lopez as a “fever dream.” According to them, “He’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.” In Touch magazine claims that they are “headed for a divorce” after Affleck moved out of their home a few weeks ago. Despite the swirling news causing anxiety, Lopez appeared unfazed and elegantly chic on the red carpet.
It seems that the core of their issues lies in how they handle personal situations. A source revealed, “When Ben’s having a problem, you can see it all over his face and he does want to talk about it and hash it out, but it can be exhausting. That’s not the world Jennifer lives in most of the day. She’s all about winning, not pain, and she’s still determined to have this fairy tale ending with Ben, at any cost.” It’s difficult to see a way out of this narrative, especially when it was the exact problem that drove them apart the first time. However, J.Lo isn’t going to let the headlines get the best of her this time around.
