JENNIFER LOPEZ AND BEN AFFLECK’S FRIEND SPEAKS OUT ON DIVORCE RUMORS
In a shocking turn of events, Jason Mewes, a close friend of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, has shared his thoughts on the couple’s rumored divorce. The 49-year-old star of “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” was recently asked about their relationship and whether he believes they will be parting ways soon. Mewes expressed his disbelief, stating, “I would be shocked,” during an interview with TMZ on Wednesday.
Mewes has been friends with the Oscar winner for over two decades, having co-starred alongside him in films like “Dogma” and “Chasing Amy,” among others. He even attended the couple’s extravagant wedding at Affleck’s Georgia home in August 2022. When asked about the wedding, Mewes became sentimental, describing the couple’s interactions and the heartfelt singing that took place. He emphasized that after 20 years together, their connection appeared genuine and sincere.
Despite not being in regular contact with Affleck and Lopez since their marriage, Mewes cast doubt on reports claiming that they are living apart. He suggested that their busy schedules and the demands of raising children could be factors contributing to any potential strain in their relationship. However, he clarified that he was not certain of the exact circumstances, stating, “I’m not saying that’s what it is — I don’t know.”
Interestingly, Lopez recently shut down a reporter who attempted to inquire about the divorce rumors during a panel discussion in Mexico City for her upcoming film “Atlas.” With a brief smile, she responded, “You know better than that,” as captured in a video shared on Instagram by El Gordo y la Flaca’s account. Lopez’s co-star, Simu Liu, also chimed in to support her and dismiss the reporter’s question.
Adding to the speculation, Affleck was photographed leaving a popular restaurant in Santa Monica, California, while Lopez attended the second premiere of “Atlas” on her own. This comes after rumors initially surfaced when Lopez attended the 2024 Met Gala without Affleck, despite both of them being co-chairs for the event. A source close to Affleck revealed, “If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,” suggesting that he feels the past two years have been a blur and he now realizes their relationship cannot work.
Affleck’s recent absence from public appearances, including the red carpet, raises further questions about the state of their marriage. He has reportedly been staying at a home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, which is conveniently located less than 30 minutes away from their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion.
