Home Alone star Daniel Stern has spilled the beans on his unexpected feud with U2 rock legend Bono. In his tell-all book, Home And Alone, the 66-year-old actor, best known for his role as Marv Murchins in the beloved Christmas film, reveals a clash with Bono and his pals over a raucous late-night party that lasted until the early hours. “By one in the morning, I was out of my mind,” Daniel wrote. It turns out that the house next door had been rented out to none other than Bono himself. Frustrated, Daniel called the police and threatened to shut down the unlawful gathering.

Describing the incident in his book, Daniel recounts how he lost his cool and confronted the partygoers. “I hopped in my truck… and headed in… I lost it. I started shouting ‘Shut the [expletive] music off. Families with children are trying to sleep and instead we have to listen to this [expletive] music all night long? Shut it off! You don’t even live here, you [expletive] pretentious [expletive] holes!'” Security personnel attempted to intervene, but Daniel’s anger made him appear “pretty insane and scary.”

Apart from his memorable role in Home Alone, Daniel Stern has had a diverse career as an actor, director, and screenwriter. He is known for playing Phil Berquist in the comedy film City Slickers and its sequel, as well as voicing Dilbert in the animated series. His filmography also includes Breaking Away, Stardust Memories, and the dark comedy Very Bad Things. More recently, he has been seen in the TV series For All Mankind and the movie Game Over, Man!

Beyond the world of acting, Daniel is a talented artist specializing in bronze sculpture. He has received numerous private commissions and has showcased his work in gallery exhibitions and art fairs. In 1980, he tied the knot with actress Laure Matto, and together they have three children – Ella, Sophie, and Henry Stern, who is now a California State Senator. In his new book, Home And Alone, Daniel shares his experiences in Hollywood, including his struggles with dyslexia and encounters with Mickey Rourke, Patrick Dempsey, and, of course, Bono from U2.

Daniel has opened up about his experience working with Macaulay Culkin, the famous child star from Home Alone. In his account, Daniel describes Macaulay as a sweet kid who had a very different upbringing compared to his own children. Macaulay was not familiar with simple childhood games like tag or playing catch, as he had spent most of his time indoors due to the pressures of show business and his parents.

During their time together, Daniel and the rest of the crew noticed that Macaulay had formed a close friendship with Michael Jackson. This became evident when they went to pick him up and discovered that his hotel room was filled to the brim with toys. It seemed as if someone had gone to Toys ‘R’ Us and collected every single toy available, gifting them all to Macaulay as a gesture of friendship from Michael Jackson.

This revelation made everyone on set feel sorry for Macaulay. While Daniel’s own children had already experienced some of the negative effects of fame, seeing the overwhelming abundance of toys in Macaulay’s room gave them a new perspective on the challenges he faced. It highlighted the distortions that fame can bring and the unique pressures that child stars like Macaulay have to endure.
