Good Morning Britain star Laura Tobin has hit back at critics who slammed her for travelling to the Arctic to report on the dangers of global warming. The 42-year-old meteorologist, who frequently appears on ITV’s breakfast show, has faced backlash in the past for her trips to report on climate change. However, Laura defended her decision to travel for the coverage, stating that it was more valuable to tell the story firsthand than not going at all. She explained that the crew had minimal members, flew economy, and offset their carbon footprint. Laura emphasized that many viewers were inspired by the broadcast and made changes in their own lives to make a difference.

During her trip to the Arctic Circle in 2021, Laura highlighted the significant impact the region has on the UK and the rest of the world. She emphasized that the warming in the Arctic drives the weather in the UK, making it crucial to address climate change. Laura expressed that she wanted to share the reality of the situation rather than just telling a story. Despite facing criticism for the coverage, with some viewers calling it hypocritical, Laura stood by her decision to travel and report on location.

GMB Defends Laura from Backlash

GMB has come to the defense of Laura amidst the backlash she has been facing. Critics have accused her of hypocrisy for flying out a crew to film her live from the Arctic Circle in order to talk about climate change, when she could have easily done it from the studio. However, GMB has stated that the trip was “carbon offset” and that it was essential to witness the realities of the situation firsthand. The Norwegian Polar Institute collaborated closely with GMB on this trip, as they were eager to showcase the impact of global warming in the region.
