Gogglebox Stars React to Outrageous Eurovision Performance
The Gogglebox favorites didn’t hold back when it came to sharing their thoughts on Finland’s jaw-dropping Eurovision performance. The singer, sporting a G-string and unshaven legs, left viewers in stitches. Roisin and Jim couldn’t help but question, “Where are his trousers?”
However, it seems that many viewers were less than impressed. Taking to Twitter, one user exclaimed, “#gogglebox Eurovision is no longer a family show. More like a porn show. I thought our entry was disgusting [and Finland] is as bad. Seems the crazier and more shocking you are the more chance of getting points. Time it was binned!”
Another viewer chimed in, jokingly saying, “I think it was cruel to make them have to watch the Eurovision song contest #Gogglebox.” A third added, “I said as soon as Windows95man won UMK that it would be the entry #Gogglebox would use for their obligatory deep dive on Eurovision. It’s utterly unhinged but also has a clear narrative. Even though the UK beat it, they got it absolutely right: ‘We’re too normal’.”
While many agreed on their disappointment with Eurovision, some felt that Mary should have been less prudish in her reactions. Mary, a journalist for the Spectator, was branded “absolutely joyless” after her unimpressed response to a tantric sex foreplay simulation.
“Poor old Mary, she’s outraged. She always thought that tantric sex was a brand of marmalade #Gogglebox,” one sarcastic viewer exclaimed. Others joined in solidarity, expressing their impatience with her.
“I’m sorry, but Mary is so utterly joyless and it’s not amusing anymore. #Gogglebox,” another fan chimed in.
Despite the harsh criticism, Mary did receive moments of praise. “I think that Giles and Mary are great. What you see is what you get. There’s no pretense, they’re always honest – no acting. Some – no names – put on a bit of an act #Gogglebox,” wrote one supporter.
While some fans were surprised that Olly Alexander’s Eurovision performance didn’t steal the spotlight, it was noted that the British singer, who criticized the “divisive” Union Jack flag, received no points from the public.
