Glen Powell, the rising star, is making a name for himself in Hollywood. With the guidance of his experienced co-stars, such as Tom Cruise and Sydney Sweeney, Powell has managed to stay grounded amidst his newfound fame. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed his plans to relocate to his home state of Texas in order to find peace and reconnect with his family. Additionally, Powell intends to use this time to finally obtain his college degree.
Powell had the opportunity to work with Cruise on the highly successful film, Top Gun: Maverick, and with Sweeney on the rom-com hit, Anyone But You. When faced with overwhelming attention and rumors surrounding his relationship with Sweeney, Powell turned to the advice of his co-stars. Despite deliberately leaning into the rumors, Powell found himself struggling to navigate the noise. He recalled Cruise’s words, “The world’s going to become really loud, and it’s your decision how much you turn up or down the volume.” At the time, Powell had just ended a long-term relationship with model Gigi Paris, while Sweeney remained in a relationship with one of the movie’s producers.
In the interview, Powell also shared his practice of keeping an “icon wisdom” journal, where he writes down advice given to him by his Hollywood peers. Cruise, who started as Powell’s idol and later became his mentor and friend, appears frequently in the journal.
As Powell continues his journey in the entertainment industry, he remains grateful for the lessons he has learned from his co-stars and looks forward to what the future holds.
