Elvis Presley’s personal Bible is set to be auctioned this weekend, according to GWS Auctions. The Bible, one of three found in the rock legend’s nightstand after his death in 1977, is embossed with his full name, Elvis Aaron Presley, in gold on the front cover. It still contains marked pages and annotated passages added by the musician. Accompanying the Bible is a handwritten letter from Patsy Presley, one of Elvis’ close cousins. The current bid for the book is $30,000 (£23,000), and it will be auctioned on May 25 by Brigitte Kruse, who previously sued Priscilla Presley.

Brigitte Kruse, a former business associate of Priscilla Presley, is the owner of the auction house handling the sale. She filed a lawsuit against Priscilla, claiming breach of contract and lack of compensation for her work. Brigitte alleges that she saved Priscilla from financial collapse and managed her business and personal affairs during a critical time. The letter accompanying the Bible, written by Patsy, recalls finding the book after Elvis’ death while organizing his personal items.

The auction of Elvis’ Bible comes at a time of turmoil for the Presley family, as the iconic Graceland property faces foreclosure. Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC is scheduled to put the Memphis property up for non-judicial sale on May 23. Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter and the current owner of Graceland, is challenging the foreclosure, claiming it is fraudulent. She questions the authenticity of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley’s, signatures on loan documents.
