Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney is set to temporarily leave the popular soap to embark on an exciting new project. She will join Channel 5’s thrilling murder-mystery series, The Good Ship Murder, alongside former Corrie favorites Catherine Tyldesley and Shayne Ward. The actress, who is best known for her role as Cassie Plummer, will take a brief one-week break to film in the Mediterranean. The highly-anticipated series will feature suspenseful storylines and showcase the talents of Shayne’s character, entertainer-turned-detective Jack Grayling, and Catherine’s determined First Officer Kate Woods.

Upon her return, Claire will reprise her role as the charismatic Cruise Director, Beverley Carnell. Joining the cast is Hollyoaks’ Ross Adams, who will portray the fresh face Colin Smallwood. The first season of The Good Ship Murder garnered an impressive average of 2.1 million viewers, and fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes, which will also include appearances from various guest stars.

A source from Coronation Street confirmed to The Sun that Claire’s absence will not cause any on-screen drama. They stated, “Claire’s taking a short break from Corrie to film,” and reassured fans that it will only last a few days and will not disrupt the ongoing storyline. Claire herself recently spoke about her future on the soap in an interview with Cheshire Life. She expressed her happiness about signing another year-long contract and her excitement to dedicate her time and energy to developing her character, Cassie. The actress also mentioned the joy she experienced while filming scenes with Dame Maureen Lipman in the Rovers and with Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine in the Dobbs household.

Claire Sweeney, known for her role in Coronation Street, recently opened up about her experience working with Maureen in a memorable scene. The actress expressed her admiration for Maureen’s talent and the exceptional writing and direction of the episode. It was truly a dream come true for Claire.

But it’s not just her career that’s thriving. Claire, 53, has also found love with boxer Ricky Hatton, whom she met on the set of Dancing on Ice. Despite being voted off early in the competition, Ricky has won something much more valuable – Claire’s heart.

The couple recently made their red carpet debut at the Co-Op Live arena in Manchester. Following that, they jetted off to Tenerife for their first vacation together, where they were seen enjoying romantic date nights and happily posing for photos with fans.

Claire and Ricky also had a great time watching a Manchester City match with friends at a local pub called The Beach Cabin. Fans of the couple are thrilled about their relationship, with many commenting on how well they look together and expressing their adoration for Claire.
