Cheryl Fergison, known for her role as Heather Mills on EastEnders, opened up about her battle with womb cancer and the financial struggles it brought upon her. The 58-year-old actress revealed that she turned to the late Dame Barbara Windsor for help during this difficult time. Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, Cheryl shared how the ordeal had a profound impact on her mental well-being. She expressed her gratitude towards Barbara, who insisted on assisting with her bills, leaving Cheryl in tears. “I remember Babs saying to me, ‘Come on, you’ve got to come around to my house.’ I explained my situation to her in the bathroom, and Scott, Barbara’s husband, was there with a chequebook. She wrote a cheque to help me with my bills and mortgage. I was overwhelmed,” Cheryl recounted emotionally. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Barbara and Scott, acknowledging the incredible generosity they showed her. Cheryl also expressed her gratitude towards other friends and colleagues, including the late Paul O’Grady and Steve McFadden. She acknowledged the immense support she received from her family, husband, and son, along with the amazing kindness shown by those who knew about her situation.
