Martin Kemp, the Spandau Ballet star, has opened up about his outlook on life following his brain tumour scare. In a conversation with his son Roman Kemp on their podcast FFS! My Dad Is Martin Kemp, titled ‘death’, Martin revealed that he believes he only has 10 years left to live. Roman urged his father to be serious, to which Martin responded by saying that since his brain tumour scare at the age of 34, every day he has lived has been a bonus.

During the podcast episode, Martin reflected on the incredible experiences he has had in his life. He mentioned being a part of a popular 80s rock band, travelling the world on private jets, and even enjoying champagne at 8 o’clock in the morning. He expressed gratitude for the life he has lived and the opportunities he has had.

In 1995, Martin was diagnosed with two benign brain tumours, one of which was the size of a grapefruit. It was thanks to his wife’s discovery of a lump on his head that he sought medical advice and found out about the tumours. He underwent surgery and radiotherapy to remove the tumours, but he still suffers from epilepsy as a result. Martin explained that epilepsy is common for those who have had brain tumours, and he will need to take medication for the rest of his life to control it.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Martin remains positive and appreciative of every day he gets to live. He sees each month and year as a bonus and cherishes the experiences he has had. Martin’s story serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest and appreciate every moment.
