TV icon Anne Diamond has shocked fans by revealing that she was rushed to the hospital, forcing her to miss her GB News shows. The 69-year-old, who battled breast cancer in 2022, disclosed that paramedics were alarmed by her sky-high blood pressure. While she is still awaiting a proper diagnosis, Diamond emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring blood pressure. Speaking on her GB News program, she confessed, “I didn’t realize that I had such incredibly high blood pressure. When the paramedics saw it, they sort of went white and said, ‘Well, you’re off to the hospital.’ And that was that.”

Diamond’s health scare has prompted her to issue a urgent warning to viewers, urging them to check their blood pressure regularly. She highlighted the prevalence of notices about the topic in doctor’s surgeries and pharmacies, emphasizing that age is not a determining factor. “It doesn’t matter how young you think you are, you ought to take your blood pressure. It’s an easy thing to do and all the rest of it, but it’s clearly an enormous thing blood pressure,” she stated.

Last June, Diamond made headlines when she revealed her breast cancer diagnosis on the same day she received an OBE. She underwent a double mastectomy and described her journey as a “hell of a journey.” The TV personality shared, “It was a wonderful moment [receiving the OBE], and that was like 9.30 in the morning. But I knew then, because I’d already seen my GP, that I had to go to a breast cancer screening thing later in the morning. I thought I would just go for a mammogram, and a couple of tests and I’d be free in an hour.”

Paramedics rushed Anne to the hospital after she turned pale. She spent the entire morning undergoing various medical procedures, including biopsies, X-rays, CT scans, and mammograms. By lunchtime, she was still at the hospital when a lady from MacMillan Cancer Care arrived, signaling the seriousness of her condition. Anne admitted that discussing her experience was difficult as she had undergone a nine-hour long operation, which she barely remembered. The extensive surgery involved removal and reconstruction. Additionally, she had another operation to remove lymph nodes, ensuring the cancer had not spread to other parts of her body. Although she found radiotherapy challenging, Anne expressed gratitude for not having any cancer travel beyond her initial diagnosis.

Anne acknowledged that her journey was not unique, as a quarter of women in the country were facing similar challenges. Despite not having advice to offer, she empathized with those going through similar experiences. In recognition of her contributions to public health and safety, Anne received an OBE in the 2023 New Year’s Honours. Apart from her off-screen work, Anne has presented shows like Good Morning Britain and Good Morning with Anne and Nick on BBC One. She has also been a radio presenter on LBC, Radio Oxford, BBC London, and BBC Berkshire. In addition, she has made appearances on panel shows such as Loose Women and The Wright Stuff.
