BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT FINALIST REVEALED TO BE MARRIED TO MUSIC ICON

The hit show Britain’s Got Talent is making a triumphant return, with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon on the lookout for the next big superstar. Hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, this ITV variety program has launched the careers of famous names like Susan Boyle and Diversity. But one talented musician has an even bigger claim to fame – she is married to a British music icon.

Violinist Izzy Johnston, known for her time in the electronic string quartet group Escala (formerly Scala), appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2008. The group wowed audiences during the show’s second series, ultimately reaching the final. Their audition received a standing ovation from all three judges – Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, and Piers Morgan – with Simon himself describing them as “incredible.” Piers added, “I think you’ve got a real chance in this competition,” while Amanda gushed, “I thought you were phenomenal.”

Izzy and Escala’s journey on Britain’s Got Talent came to an end in the final, where they narrowly missed out on the top spot to winner George Sampson. However, their talent did not go unnoticed. Simon praised Escala for their ability to “turn classical music on its head.” Following the competition, they signed a lucrative £1.5 million contract with Simon and released their album Escala the following year. Izzy eventually left the group in 2011, prompting Escala to hold auditions for her replacement.

But Izzy’s connections to fame don’t end there. She is also married to McFly star Harry Judd. The couple first met in 2005 when Izzy was playing the violin in the backing orchestra for McFly’s Wonderland Tour. They tied the knot in 2012, a year after Harry’s triumphant win on Strictly Come Dancing. Today, they are proud parents of three children.

In addition to her musical career and role as a podcast host, Izzy is also a published author. She has written books such as Dare to Dream: My Struggle to Become a Mum and Mindfulness For Mums. Izzy has been candid about her fertility journey, sharing her heartache after suffering a miscarriage in 2014 following their first round of IVF. However, their perseverance paid off, and they welcomed their first child, Lola, in 2014. They later conceived naturally and had their second child, Kit, before announcing the arrival of their third child, Lockie, in 2021.
