Anita Dobson’s husband, Brian May, had foreseen the excitement that would ensue from her enigmatic Doctor Who scene. In the scene, Dobson’s character, Mrs Flood, confidently claims to have seen the Doctor’s Tardis before. Introduced as the nosy neighbor of Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson) in the 2023 Christmas special, Mrs Flood will make a return in the upcoming series this month.

During the episode, Mrs Flood becomes increasingly irritated by the Tardis causing a commotion on her street. As it takes off with the Doctor and Ruby inside, Abdul (played by Hemi Yeroham) watches in astonishment while Mrs Flood scolds him, saying, “Stop making such a fuss!”

In a mysterious manner, Mrs Flood then hints that this wasn’t her first encounter with the Doctor’s mode of transportation, playfully asking, “Never seen a Tardis before?” This subtle remark sent fans into a frenzy, speculating about her possible connections to previous characters. Theories emerged, suggesting a potential link to Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) or River Song (Alex Kingston), who was born as Melody Pond.

Reflecting on the moment, Anita Dobson shared that her husband had anticipated the viral response to her scene. She revealed, “Well, I wasn’t expecting it, although my husband did say to me after he saw it, ‘You wait, this is gonna go viral.’ And I said, ‘Don’t be daft.’ And of course, it did! So I am totally thrilled.”

BRIAN’S SUPPORT FOR ANITA’S DR WHO ROLE

Last week, Brian showed his unwavering support for his wife Anita by sharing a heartfelt post dedicated to her role in the hit show Dr Who. The Queen star took to social media to express his pride in Anita’s portrayal of the enigmatic Mrs Flood, stating that her performance has been capturing the attention of viewers. Alongside a photo of the couple, Brian shared that he was fortunate enough to attend a private preview of the new series, where he witnessed Anita’s talent firsthand. After a busy day, the couple enjoyed a drink and supper before embarking on a long drive home to their countryside residence, where they now reside as country folk.

MYSTERIES UNVEILED IN UPCOMING SERIES

Doctor Who fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming series, as showrunner Russell T Davies promises to delve deeper into the enigmatic character of Mrs Flood. In an interview on Doctor Who: Unleashed, Davies described Mrs Flood as a mysterious figure, teasing that viewers will eventually learn more about her. He also hinted at a slow reveal, stating, “Who is Mrs Flood? Come back and find out!” Anita herself added to the intrigue, stating that while her character may currently appear as a friendly neighbor, the future holds unknown surprises. As the series unfolds, Russell continues to write the story, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

RUBY’S ORIGIN STORY UNVEILED

In addition to Mrs Flood’s mystery, the upcoming series will also address the intriguing origin of Ruby. Russell teased that the storyline will explore the tale of a foundling left on a church doorstep in the snow, which serves as the foundation for the narrative. As the series progresses, viewers will revisit the church and discover hidden surprises within the scenes.
